'90s Rock 'n' Roll Vibes & Crepes
Summer in Chicago is so good that Kanye used the expression "Summertime Chi" to describe what "the Good Life" feels like. And every Chicagoan who has listened to that song immediately knows what he means!!
Still, if you're in Chicago in the summer, you should be prepared to sweat a little... or a lot! Earlier this summer I knew I'd need some tank tops to keep cool. I wanted something that would be casual and pair with jean shorts and that would pack some attitude. Asos always has a great selection of items across a wide array of trends which I'm hugely grateful for in a season that has been almost completely dominated by ruffles and gingham! I love this rose embroidered festival tank top from Asos that has that quintessential 90s Rock vibe! I wore this tank with a pair of high-waisted denim shorts and some strappy, gladiator style lace up sandals last weekend as Daniel and I biked around the city and made a pitstop for some mouthwatering crepes!
After seeing some drool worthy instagram posts of the crepes at Toni Patisserie and Cafe on instagram through @sherriesavorsthecity, we knew that needed to be on our agenda! We made our way downtown to Toni Patisserie and Cafe, just across Michigan Ave from Grant Park on Washington St last weekend and stopped by for a bite. We really enjoyed the Peaches and Cream crepe (one of their limited edition summer crepes) which had a peach compote and mascarpone cream filling. Whenever we order crepes, we always get one sweet and one savory. We paired the sweet summer crepe with their classic savory jambon et fromage (Parisian style ham and Gruyere cheese). Afterwards we walked through the Lurie Gardens in the late evening sunlight before heading home.
What are some of your favorite places to grab a snack or sweet treat in Chicago during the summer? We'd love to hear about them!
With love from Chicago,
Jennifer + Daniel
